Over the weekend, Kendrick Lamar performed at the Sweetlife 2015 festival & had thousands of fans going crazy, but for one fan in particular, he changed her life. While performing hits from his 2012 release of Good Kid, M.A.A.D City, Kendrick noticed one young 16-year-old fan, Claire, crying in the audience. After a brief exchange of words, she murmured “you saved my life” to Kendrick, and at the point he brought the young lady on stage. K Dot shared an emotional embrace with the fan, and after the show brought her backstage to offer some advice.
“When I was 15, I was diagnosed with severe depression, and Kendrick got me through it,” Claire, who’s now 16, told MTV News. “And I couldn’t have done it without him. I listened to his music over and over and there were nights where I thought I was going to end it all, and I didn’t, and I think that’s because his words impacted me in a way that no other artist has ever done. I can’t thank him enough. I can’t thank the people behind him enough for making him come to the earbuds that I listen to. I feel inseparable from his music.”
Claire never thought she would be able to thank Kendrick in person, until Saturday.
