The first week sales numbers are in for Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly, and although it didn’t reach the 1 million sales goal set by the TDE president, it’s off to a great start. The album sold 318,988 copies its first week, not including streams, which is pretty good considering it was released a week early & hard copies weren’t available for the first 4 days. TPAB has also landed Kendrick his first #1 album on the Billboard Hot 200, hard to believe but Good Kid, M.A.A.D City debuted at #2 back in 2012. The album also set a few Spotify streaming records, with 9.6 million global streams the first day, and breaking the record again on the second day with 9.8 million streams. Pretty good stuff.
